On the heaths of Melrakkaslétta peninsula, northeast Iceland, the dwarf birch bolete (Leccinum rotundifoliae) is found in abundance. We at Sléttusveppir gather it, cut it and pack it in 50 and 25 gram packages. It is a fine edible mushroom and suits well for soups, sauces and various dishes.
We also pick larch bolete (Suillus grevillei) in the woodlands of Kelduhverfi, another district of northeast Iceland; dry it and pack it in 25 gram packages.
